Staff Reports
The Youth Leadership Corps is a new Youth Council program to connect teens (14+) with their community through volunteer service while also doing workshops for leadership building and event/outreach planning. Two of the days are spent at the Youth Bureau working on leadership skills, fun activities and learning how to plan for larger community events or offsite at another community organization. Tuesday is spent at Stewart Park doing community service including general upkeep and maintenance. Work at Stewart Park is open to all community members, so please bring a parent or a friend. You do not need to have already signed up for the Youth Leadership Corps to attend.
The program is open for another 3 weeks on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (July 26, 27, 29; August 2, 3, 5; and August 9, 10, 12) and you may sign up for as many weeks as you would like. The group will meet in the Youth Bureau atrium, across from the gym at 1:00 and the program runs until 4:00. If you are interested in participating, please contact us with the weeks your interested in attending and bring in the completed application found on our website ( http://ithacayouthcouncil.org/IYC/Youth_Leadership_Corps.html ) with you to the program.

Suicide has recently come to Ithaca in a very public, and at times controversial, way. This past academic year, after three years with no suicides, Cornell experienced what is known in the scientific community as a "suicide cluster." OK, so maybe you're like me and you thought this whole JetBlue flight attendant story was good for maybe one news cycle.
